Second Street Sketches Curator Picks

Tonight at 5pm, Second Street Gallery will be celebrating the virtual opening of Second Street Sketches: Curator Picks, an online exhibition of local artists' creations inspired by April's art prompts on Instagram.

 

Executive Director & Chief Curator Kristen Chiacchia has chosen one favorite from each daily prompt. Jum Jirapan's entry for the April 25's challenge,Andrew Sherogan's 'fortune teller' where artists are challenged to make art out of a basic fortune teller paper fold.

Jum Jirapan is chosen again this year as one of the local artists selected for the 2019 Face to Face project to paint a portrait of a local community member. Jane Webb, her subject, is an English teacher at J. T. Henly Middle School.

Face To Face: Portraits of Our Vibrant City uses the intimate process of portraiture to connect artists and community members who have different life experiences. Part portraiture and part biography, Face to Face uses the strengths, experiences, and passions of vibrant individuals in our community to inform masterfully created portraits
